“The Washington Forest Protection Association (WFPA) is deeply saddened to learn of George Weyerhaeuser’s passing. Through his long-tenured career at the Weyerhaeuser Company, George will forever be connected to the Evergreen State’s prosperity and leadership in championing science-forward approaches in forestry. This includes Weyerhaeuser Company’s enduring commitment to advancing healthy, resilient forests with its help in founding of the Washington Forest Fire Association in the early 1900s to investing millions to promote sustainable practices that benefit our economy, society, wildlife habitat and the environment. George’s departure is deeply felt, but he leaves behind a legacy that continues to touch nearly every aspect of the forestry sector today and beyond.” – Jason Spadaro, President of the Washington Forest Protection Association
